PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Distinguished guests, dedicated community leaders, our partners in the healthcare profession, my colleagues in the organization, friends and families, Good Evening. I thank you very much for joining us to celebrate the 4th induction of officers of PNA Hawaii.
For about two decades with my involvement with PNA, starting back in Virginia, I have witnessed numerous 'passing of the baton' ceremonies. Tonight, I am just deeply honored to be the recipient of the baton. To the outgoing officers led by Emilyn, I appreciate all your hard work and commitment to the association for the last two years. And to my fellow inductees, I also thank you for your desire and enthusiasm to move the organization forward with equal commitment or even more. that commitment of responsibility commences tonight.
Indeed, our organization is just entering its 6th year since inception, and yet, PNA Hawaii has already earned a place in the community through involvement with different community activities. tina set forth the implementation of the association's VITALITY, VIABILITY and VISIBILITY. Emilyn strenghtened the association with stronger ties and network with other organizations. Our association is not only limited to our own locality. Being a proud chapter member of the PNA America, Inc., PNA Hawaii helps PNAA achieve its goals nationally.
For the next two years, I will be streering the association to other sets of chalenges. As we all know, for the next 20 years, everyone of us in the healthcare business, will be challenged when all the baby boomers have entered into the retirement stage. Hawaii will have the highest rate of elderly population in the country. due to this significant demographic shift compounded by nursing shortage, our healthcare industry will tremendously be overwhelmed. Are we going to wait for those challenges to just drop down into our laps? As a professional organization, what is our obligations?
Tonight, we are taking a pledge of commitment for two years of unselfish service to the community through our association. I can assure everyone that my pledge is not just raising my right hand, but a pledge of two hendred percent commitment to action. I challenge my fellow officers to take that pledge with equal commitment. I believe PNAH, as a professional organization, should and will lead the way to spearhead a collaborative effort with all sectors in the community to look into the ccomplex problem related to the aging population.
Once again, I thank you for joining us as we celebrate tonight. Enjoy the rest of the evening.
