Aloha!

The Philippine Nurses Association of Hawaii (PNAH) would like to invite you to join our organization! The Philippine Nurses Association of America Foundation (PNAAF) promotes and provides opportunities for philanthropy in support of professional advancement of all Filipino American Nurses and health for all through nursing care, education, scholarship, management and research. If you are a student nurse, or registered nurse currently awaiting employment, our organization may offer opportunities to interact and network with nurses throughout the island, which is an easy step in working toward your goal of finding employment.

Our organization is very community oriented in that we engage in service activities such as volunteering with the Oahu Medical Reserve Corps, participating with the Department of Health Influenza vaccinations for the elementary public schools, etc. We also participate in activities with the American Cancer Society such as Relay for Life, and I Can Cope classes for Cancer survivors, caregivers, and their families. PNAH is also one of the main supporters of Nurses Advocate and Mentor, Inc (NAMI), in which a few of our professional educators offer to teach classes for NAMI's free NCLEX review program. Active membership in our organization and participation in community service activities are excellent ways to build your resume.

We also participate in Medical Missions to the Philippines. If you have not yet been to the Philippines, this is an excellent opportunity to experience your homeland from a different perspective. It is also an opportunity to put your care giving skills to work, and where they are needed most.

The Philippines Nurses Association also holds national and international leadership conferences every year, and you are welcome to travel with the group to meet other nurses and healthcare professionals across the globe. You will be able to learn more about the nursing profession and open more doors to advancement in your career. PNAH has a history of professional linkages, and many of our members have accomplished prestige in education, research, and nursing excellence. Our organization will help you work toward success and professional development, in that you may also become a prestigious member of the nursing community.

The PNAH is currently seeking out the new generation of nurses to assist in bridging the gap between the generations. Your contribution of innovative ideas, knowledge, and skills are vital to the future development of our society, and your involvement in PNAH will help continue the visibility and viability of our organization.

Our organization is also sponsoring a writing contest together with Western Union, with a cash prize of $1,000.00 to be awarded to 5 winners, so each can get $200. The contest will be open to nursing students and associate members. Call or text me at (808) 255-9198 if you have any questions.

Hope to see you at our next meeting,
