We participated to the Isabela, Philippines Medical Mission in October of 2009 under leadership of PMAH and Ohana Medical Mission. It was a great success considering we serviced more than 2,000 local residents for 4 days. We were also invited to join the 7th International Convention in Cebu City, Philippines last January 2010 to present Diabetes as a community participatory research. Dr. Anne Leake from UHSONDH was the main speaker, with myself as a co- speaker. The Relay for Life at Alamoana Magic Island last July , Filipino Fiesta Parade in May was made possible because of the great initiative from our new members. We also joined the Comelec Park initiative to stimulate residents to register to vote. The PNAH participated by setting up a table for First Aid. We also joined MRC to the`Hawaii Primary Care Associations Annual Convention at Hilton Hawaiian Village last September. It was a busy but productive 2 years. Much of all these activities belong under the leadership of Jose Jacob, but as the saying goes, behind every successful man, is a wife“wife”. Now that his term expired, and the table had turned, he will be my great mentor… Our theme for the next two years “ Engage PNA Hawaii and make a Difference: Promoting a local, national, and an international commitment by conveying awareness of the Filipino culture in the community, to excel in the cultural aspect of nursing with dedication and passion to build a strong Nursing profession today and beyond”. We want all of us to join hands together to help accomplish the theme. I encourage everyone to access our enhanced website at http://www.pnahawaii.org. Through this website, members at large, and would be members and friends of PNA Hawaii can keep in contact with ongoing activities of the Association. Please check out this site and ensure that you have updated your contact information. Please send your photos so we can update your profile on our website. Please make a check payable to PNA Hawaii, enclose your membership application and mail to: Tessie Oculto, Chairperson, Membership Committee, P.O Box 1770, Pearl City Hawaii, 96782. Please be informed that PNAH Executive Board members conduct monthly meetings, every first Sunday of the month from 1pm-3pm. Any member is encouraged to attend and participate. We love to hear from you. Please join us to the 11th Annual PNAH Christmas Party at Sam Snead, US Naval Station, Hawaii on December 19th, 2011, from 10AM-2pm. PNAH is looking forward to see you all. Please mark your calendar. Early next year in January 2012, PNAH is again invited to participate to a medical mission. Location will be in Bicolandia for 4 days. Anybody interested, please contact us. We also want you to come and join us to the PNAA National Convention and it will be held at Marriot Rivercenter in San Antonio, Texas, from July 11-15, 2012. . We have more activities in between so stay tuned. We want you in our team. Last, but not least, I ask that everyone please consider becoming dues paying members of the Association. We seek to be inclusive of all members and friends of PNAH in our activities, but it certainly helps us be more effective and generous as an Association by having your financial support. The due structure has changed from PNAA years. Yearly membership due is $75.00. You may pay your dues for 2 consecutive years with discount of $10.00. Instead of paying $150.00, you will pay a discounted amount of $140.00. Also, if you recruit 3 (three) new members yearly, your yearly membership due is waived. Please make a check payable to PNA Hawaii, enclose your membership application and mail to: Tessie Oculto, Chairperson, Membership Committee, P.O Box 1770 Pearl City, Hawaii, 96782. I have attached the membership application. Thanks again for your support of PNA Hawaii. Salamat po. Marianela Ruiz-Jacob MSN APRN FNP RN President, 2010-2012 |
