To My Dear Fellow PNA Hawaii Member:

Greetings fellow PNAH member and friends. I trust everyone will have a happy and
safe summer. As we move toward the half of the year, I invite you to take note of the
association’s sponsored activities that serve all members of the Philippine Nurses
     Association Hawaii.
You should have recently received thru e-mail the Easter message of hope for our membership
volunteerism. I am encouraging our members to join in any event whether a fundraising event or
volunteer activities that support our community in any possible ways (i.e. UH-PNAH partnership,
Health is Wealth participatory research project, MRC, relay for life, MOTTEFF, NAMI).  Funds raised
through these activities will help fund our yearly membership educational conference we are
     envisioning for the members.

We all look forward to a (more!) future successful PNAA Western conferences and the PNAA National
convention this summer in Baltimore, Maryland. During the convention in Baltimore, we look to do our
part by bringing more delegates in support for the national organization. Although, we are in a financial
crunched, some members decided to join to be part of the Mentee/Mentoring strategy for future
leadership of the association. I am encouraging everyone to join us in this effort and build your
confidence during the Leadership day which would fall on Thursday, July 16, 2009. We hope to see
you there for the opener, and then again same time, same place the following days for the educational
presentation and the gala night affair.

Later this year during the holiday season, we will be hosting the annual membership Christmas party.
We are still looking and arranging the venue for this affair. The highlight of this event is the opportunity
for every member to mingle, associate with friends,  and an opportunity to come together with other
nurses who share the same culture, values and traditions.

Earlier this year, the association was pleased to provide the in-service seminar for caregivers
sponsored by Western Union. I am looking forward for more sponsorship by Western Union for our
     members’ educational advancements.

I encourage everyone to access our enhanced website at http://www.pnahawaii.org. Through this
website, members at large, and would be members and friends of PNA Hawaii can keep in contact with
ongoing activities of the Association. Please check out this site and ensure that you have updated your
contact information. Please send your photos so we can update your profile on our website.

Last, but not least, I ask that everyone please consider becoming dues paying members of the
Association. We seek to be inclusive of all members and friends of PNAH in our activities, but it
certainly helps us be more effective and generous as an Association by having your financial support.
The dues structure is unchanged from past years. You may pay your dues for 2 consecutive years with
discount of $10.00. Instead of paying $70.00, you will pay a discounted amount of $60.00. Also, if you
recruit 3 (three) new members yearly, your yearly membership due is waived.

Please make a check payable to PNA Hawaii, enclose your membership application and mail to: Tessie
Oculto, Chairperson, Membership Committee, 92-1269, Umena St. Kapolie, Hawaii, 96707. I have
     attached the membership application.

Thanks again for your support of PNA Hawaii.

                                                                      President, 2008-2010
